PLEASE READ THE COMPLETE STORY FOR INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR FAMILY & PETS AND PARAFFIN CANDLES ! IT IS IMPORTANT AND MAY SAVE THE LIVES OF YOUR PETS!
An estimated 18,000 candle fires are reported annually. According to fire experts, the bulk of candle-fire incidents are due to consumer inattention to basic fire safety or to the misuse of candles.
Eco Earth Candle Company urges consumers to be careful when burning candles, no matter the manufacture, and to follow these rules for burning candles safely.
Always keep a burning candle within sight. Extinguish all candles when leaving a room or before going to sleep. Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire. Keep burning candles away from furniture, drapes, bedding, carpets, books, paper, flammable decorations, etc.
Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets. Do not place lighted candles where they can be knocked over by children, pets, a strong breeze through a window or anyone else.
Trim candlewicks to ¼ inch each time before burning. Long or crooked wicks cause uneven burning and dripping.
Always use a candle holder specifically designed for candle use. The holder should be heat resistant, sturdy and large enough to contain any drips or melted wax.
Be sure the candle holder is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface. This will also help prevent possible heat damage to counters and table surfaces and prevent glass containers from cracking or breaking. Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times.
Always read and follow the manufacturer's use and safety instructions carefully. Don't burn a candle longer than the manufacturer recommends.
Keep burning candles away from drafts, vents, ceiling fans and air currents. This will help prevent rapid, uneven burning, and avoid flame flare-ups and sooting. Drafts can also blow lightweight curtains or papers into the flame where they could catch fire.
Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room. Don't burn too many candles in a small room or in a "tight" home where air exchange is limited.
Failure to follow these safety tip could result in fire/injury and death. Consumers who purchase our candle products agree to assume responsibility for any and all damages and injuries resulting in their failure to follow these basic safety instructions.
Did you know that soy candles have a memory
This is very important to know. When you light a soy candle for the first time it remembers how far across the surface it melted. For best results and longest enjoyment of your soy candle let your candle surface completely liquefy before extinguishing it. This will result in a longer lasting soy candle without the occurrence of tunneling down the center. Because safety is important when burning any candle we recommend sharing this information with anyone you know who burns candles, i.e.,.your customers, friends, family and staff. As indicated above, .Remember, never allow a candle to burn unattended and avoid burning any candle in a small closed room without there being ventilation of some sort. Keep your wicks trimmed to 1/4 inch or so. Too short and candle will not burn properly. Too long and you may have excessive smoke. How long to burn? On 8 oz candles and larger, ONLY BURN 3-4 HOURS AT A TIME! Votives burn about 2-3 hours and always burn candle in a snug fitting votive holder.
Its real easy to light a candle and walk a way from it. Before you know it your candle has been burning all day long. Here is what can happen. Allowing your candles to burn all day may cause glass and wax to become to hot and possibly become a fire hazard. So we recommend burning your candles about 3-4 hours, blow it out and allow it to completely cool before re-lighting. Also, never move a hot and or burning candle from one location to another, and keep candle away from any combustible materials. Always set it on a safe, fireproof surface. Be sure to keep away from children and pets. Please discontinue use when candle burns down to about 1/2" or so from the bottom of the candle to avoid the hot flame of the wick from coming in contact with the bottom of the glass. Even though our candle containers are meant for use with candles, and although our soy wax formula burns cooler than regular wax candles, as with all candles, allowing the candle flame/heat to come in contact with the glass for long periods of time can cause glass to deform or even break which has the potential to cause a fire hazard. So common sense should always rule.
Always burn candles away from direct drafts, ceiling fans, flammable materials and liquids, etc. Wick should always be kept centered and straight when burning and not allowed to lean too much to one side of the candle. To avoid smoke when extinguishing candle simply take a small fireproof object such as a butter knife, or better yet, wick dipper ( soon we will carry) and dip flame into the liquid wax to extinguish. Be careful though, as the liquefied wax could be hot. After the wick has been extinguished, simply re straighten your wick back up with your wick dipper or what ever object you are using. Your wick will now be primed for the next burn and you avoided the smoke associated with blowing out a candle.
If you follow these directions and burn your candle in this fashion, you will enjoy your candle in a safer manner and about the only thing you will have left is the residue on the inside of the jar and the wick tab! Our candles burn that completely! Don't forget to recycle tour candle jars and packaging! Soy wax washes out with soap and water but caution must be taken to never allow liquid wax to be poured down sink drains! It could clog them up! Thank you and be safe!
